dah Bobcat

Bobby Hill was born on and raised near the Tennessee River in North Alabama. Born in 1952, his musical spirit was ignited by the likes of the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Led Zeppellin while still in high school. Picked up the guitar at age 12, learned by ear without any formal training...except for the music theory he learned playing the clarinet. Dumped clarinet for guitar--good move!

Bob went to college at Auburn University looking for a career in audio engineering. Instead, he majored in Broadcast Communications, the closest thing offered, and formed a band with some young dudes from Mobile, Alabama. After graduation, the boys officially christened the band "Monarch". Southern rock was a natural--Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Allman Brothers--but these cats were into Zeppelin too, and Stones, Bad Co., Robin Trower, Queen, Jethro Tull, Thin Lizzy, Aerosmith and Van Halen. The band moved to Mobile, then to Atlanta to hook up with club gigs in the big city. Of course, a booking agent latched onto the band (or should I say leeched?) and began booking them in the major clubs in Atlanta like The Stone Pony, C.W. Shaws, Underground (yech!) and around the southeast. After 6 years of being on the road every week, the band finally 'dis-banded' when numerous attempts to sell the original demo tape had failed to get any offers.

Fast forward...a second life came and went, with a wife, and a very fine son. "Met dah Cliffstah through our now ex-wives who were friends and we became best musical buddies. I come from a heavier side of Rock n Roll and I'm always introducing new metal music to Cliff. My favorite guitarists are the ones that are so hard to imitate, yet nothing but beauty and grace in concert....like Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai...those are the guys that really put it out there. And then you got your classic electric blues guys...Gary Moore, Mike Bloomfield, Stevie Ray...they've all got a unique signature sound, you can tell it as soon as you hear em!"

Back in 2000 a fair amount of time was spent with the classic rock band Strings Attached, and Bob enjoy playing de Classic Rock tunes that have been our lifelong favorites...like Clapton, Santana, Pink Floyd. Our original tunes are coming along. I have to work extra hard to turn Cliff's country songs into rock songs. We play new music too. After all, our ace drummah dude is playing songs that were recorded before he was born!!! Think about dat for a while.....
